Not normally an air filter issue unless never changed, but drive without it for a short while to confirm. Try your Mass Airflow Sensor and then your Throttle Position Sensor. If it's your Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve you would normaly have other problems like a lot of thick black smoke out the tailpipe and more serious r3M5hGS.
